Day 1 Highlights – July 17, 2024

The ABL K2 Expedition – 2024 departed from Lahore on the afternoon of July 16, 2024. After an overnight stay in Islamabad, they reached Skardu by air on July 17, 2024. In Skardu, the team met with the Army Commander and presented a souvenir to him and his team. Today, they are traveling to Askhole by jeep.

We honor their unwavering passion and dedication. Their courage and perseverance serve as an inspiration to us all. Their commitment to using this expedition as a platform to raise awareness about climate change and environmental conservation is truly commendable. May their journey be filled with triumph, camaraderie, and breathtaking moments that will leave an indelible mark on their lives. We wish them a safe and successful ascent, and we eagerly look forward to their return, when they will share tales of their incredible adventure and the valuable lessons they’ve learned along the way.

The team expressed their resolve to engage the community during their travels to raise awareness about climate change. Their passion is beyond description.

Day 2 Highlights – July 18, 2024

Our K2 expedition team  successfully reached Askole, the gateway to the mighty K2, after a scenic seven hours jeep drive from Skardu. The team utilized their journey to engage with the local community, spreading awareness about the importance of cleanliness and climate change.

Day 2 Highlights: ABL K2 Expedition 2024

As they prepare for their trek to Jhola, their next destination on the way to  K2 base camp, they have procured fresh supplies, including goats and chickens, to sustain them on their journey. Despite the exhaustion, the team’s spirits remain high as they settle into their tents, ready to embark on the next leg of their adventure on foot. We wish them continued success and safety as they push forward, driven by their passion for environmental conservation and their determination to make a positive impact. At this point in time, team leaves  for Jhola.

Day 3,4 & 5 Highlights – July 19,20 & 21, 2024

Our team successfully reached Jhola and Paju, pushing through the challenging terrain on foot. Despite the physical toll, the team’s spirits remain high, buoyed by their collective motivation and bonding. They took a well-deserved rest day at Paju, preparing for the next leg of their journey to Khoborste/Hoborse. Throughout their trek, the team has engaged with locals and fellow trekkers, spreading awareness about climate change and our bank’s efforts to support this noble cause.

Currently, the team is en-route to Khoborste/Hoborse, and although pictures are not available due to signal issues, they have confirmed via wireless communication that all team members are safe and in good spirits. We will continue to take update on  progress. Thank you for following their journey and supporting their mission to raise awareness about climate change.

Day 6 Highlights – July 23, 2024

Our K2 Expedition team has successfully reached Urdukas, overcoming yet another significant milestone in their journey! The team bravely crossed two glaciers, showcasing their unwavering resilience and determination. In their message, they expressed their excitement and motivation, fueled by their dream destination drawing near. It’s truly inspiring to see them focused on the triumphs, rather than the tribulations, of this extraordinary adventure.

As they embark on the next leg of their journey to Goro II, we wish them the best of luck and continued success. Their unwavering enthusiasm and teamwork are a testament to the human spirit’s capacity for greatness. We salute their courage and dedication to raising awareness about climate change. Keep pushing forward, team – you’re making us all proud!

Team has travelled 196 KMs from Skardu and currently at altitude of 4200m.Today team is heading towards Goro II,  12 KMs  from Urdukas, and will be at altitude of  4300m.

Day 7 Highlights – July 24, 2024

Our K2 Expedition team has successfully reached Goro II, continuing their remarkable journey with unwavering enthusiasm and team spirit.  Despite the challenging terrain, they remain safe, sound, and energized, driven by their collective determination to make a difference. Their selfless dedication to raising awareness about climate change and promoting sustainable practices is truly inspiring, and we applaud their courage and resilience.

Team has travelled 208 KMs from Skardu and currently at altitude of 4300m.  Today, as they move on  to Concordia, 11 KMs  from Goro II at an altitude of 4650m, we acknowledge their tireless efforts towards a noble cause that transcends personal achievements. Their every step forward is a testament to their commitment to creating a safer, more sustainable future for generations to come.

Day 8 Highlights – July 25, 2024

Our K2 Expedition Team has successfully reached the iconic Concordia at altitude of  4650m after travelling 219KMs from Sakardu  and is now enroute to the K2 Base Camp for more  11KMs to  their ultimate dream destination, at altitude of 5150m. The team’s excitement is palpable as they near the mighty K2, and they can’t wait to hoist ABL and National flags at the Base Camp. This remarkable achievement is a testament to their unwavering dedication, teamwork, and perseverance.

K2 Expedition

On Saturday, team will conduct an  awareness session spreading the message of climate change and sustainability and  will embark on a cleanliness drive at the K2 Base Camp, collecting around 1200kg of waste. This selfless act will contribute significantly to preserving the environment and promoting eco-friendly practices.

With their objectives accomplished, the team will begin their journey back on Sunday, July 28, with a first stop at Concordia. We congratulate our K2 Expedition Team on this monumental achievement, showcasing their commitment to a noble cause. Their victory is a beacon of hope for a sustainable future, and we take immense pride in their accomplishment.
